Ooh - I couldn't live without my Dyson. For years I couldn't bring myself to spend so much money and opted, instead, for something far less extravagant - which meant it never worked properly and had to be changed every couple of years. Eventually I gave in and am now rueing the loss of about ten year's worth of non-Dyson vacuuming. Having said all that - I do like the sound of that pedometer...!

When I first had a baby and engaged a cleaner, I hated it that she didn't hoover properly and there were track-marks going randomly all over the carpet. Nowadays, I'd rather appreciate someone to do the job for me. I wouldn't care in the least if it were done properly or not.

I have a new house with acres of carpet and a small hoover that doesn't suck, it now turns out.

Even the jet engine noise of the Miele wouldn't put me off!
