For somebody who moans each year about having to take part, Sally's always done quite well at this. And now, in her last race in her final Tower Road sports day....
For the record, Charlie and I came last in the toddler race! It's the taking part that counts...
Coming last and having fun - that is what counts!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Sally, and way to go Dad and Charlie.
ReplyDeleteTerrific! But it's the running/rope jumping combo that I think is truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteWay to go!
ReplyDeleteNothing like leaving on a high note - or going out with a bang as it were.
Well done Sally!
RMx
Well, we certainly had lots of fun, FM!
ReplyDeleteAnd Charlie and I have got a long, long way to go, Ian. Maybe next year...
I don't know how she managed it, Sue. It looked so complicated!
She's saved the best 'til last, RM.
Well done Sally. Brings back happy memories of sports days in the sun. I like your cheer at the end!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Sally. I find sports days a bit boring but mainly because I have to stand around talking to other parents who are more excited than their kids! But the kids love them and that's what counts. Ciao. A. PS I would have like to watch a video of Charlie running...
ReplyDeleteThe weather was wonderful yesterday, Rosie - unlike last year, when Sally's sports day was postponed twice thanks to the rain!
ReplyDeleteWell, Antonella, a tiny blurred bit of footage does exist. I was helping Charlie to come last, so someone else was filming and - unfortunately - it didn't come out too well. Sorry!
Sally's school has a proper sports day - not like the bean bag throwing, no losers, you're all winners type of shite that our school has
ReplyDeleteI used to love watching the Dad's race xxxx
I've never been a fan of sports day, I always came last! Got my son's first sports day soon... :)
ReplyDeleteoh, I see.. I'm always late everywhere! but its nice when it turns out well, right?

ReplyDeleteoops I clicked too many times i am imbaressed , please excuse me, **apoligies**
ReplyDeleteOh yes Jenny, and with traditional primary-school events too, like sack- and egg-and-spoon races.
ReplyDeleteWell, Sally came first in her last race, and Charlie (hindered by me) came last in his first. The only way is up, Clarey!
Yes, it certainly turned out well for Sally, Mel. Charlie and I are in training for next year!
I like the part at the end where she looks at you as you yell Sally. I wonder if she is thinking she is going to end up on the blog!
ReplyDeleteSports Day is a British thing, I've learned to enjoy them. We have one next week and am honing my skipping skills.
Cool blog. I can't think how I got here but I like it (and you!).
ReplyDeleteYeah, yeah...'the taking part'...I believe you...
ReplyDeleteWell done to Sally!!!!
Oh and well done to you too Tim because you are a winner on Chez Aspie today though.
I hated sports day.
ReplyDeleteWell done all of you - winning or losing; taking part is the important thing.
There's an award for you over at mine, if you want one.
That looks ridiculously fun!
ReplyDeleteThe taking part, that what I always tell Amy!! I dread sports day because I'm sooo lazy.
ReplyDeleteCJ xx
I think she was surprised to see Charlie standing at the side of track cheering her on, AMM!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter how you got here, Annicles, but you're very welcome. Glad you like it.
Thanks, Tasha. I'm popping over there right now.
Well, ridiculous for sure, Serena.
Ironically Sally always dreads it, too CJ! Doesn't stop her doing well though.
No, no, no, Tim. It's not the taking part. "Second place is first loser" in this house. Get the feelin my husband is a tad competitive?
ReplyDeleteBut I thought he was a City fan, WM? (*ducks*)
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget one of the first races my son took part in at the tender age of five. He was way, way out in front, almost at the finishing line, when he suddenly stopped, looked for his friend pounding along valiantly in the distance - and waited until he caught up so they could cross the line together, hand in hand.
ReplyDeleteWow she did brilliantly. WHat a little star. And yay for Daddy and CHarlie too. I imagine I'll be in the mum's race soon. Sighhhh. I bet I fall over. I am only graceful in water. :D
