End of New Road
One of the things that I was looking forward to this year was the chance to see some cricket in September (instead of being stuck in the classroom, as I was two years ago when England won the Ashes). But the weather seems to have put paid to that. I'm just glad we made it to New Road, Worcester before the latest floods -

Oh, what a good shot!
ReplyDeleteI used to love watching Test Match cricket before I had kids, but it would eat up four days of my life. I used to get obsessive about it. I couldn’t leave the room because I knew that if I did, I’d miss something crucial.
Now I don’t even watch the highlights. Sad.
No matter how many times he tries to explain it to me, I just don't get cricket. He adores it, I can't fathom it.

ReplyDeleteTry TMS, Dave - it has two distinct advantages: one, it's on the radio (the pictures are therefore better); two, it doesn't let the cricket come before a decent conversation (just like being at a real match).
ReplyDeleteSome of our (that is, England's) captains have been Scottish, Gwen, so I don't think so.
Belter is the word, BTM. I'm not sure that the cameraman enjoyed it!
I think we need to invent a watery version with floating wickets and cricket waders instead of whites!

ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea, WM - I'll suggest it to the MCC immediately! (They will also have to adjudicate on the number of runs scored, Gadjo.) He most certainly is, Dave - and the remarkable thing is the number of characters he seems to attract into the commentary box. Glad you liked the video, Cas. It was a good game to play in, too (unless you were the cameraman!).
