Stop Press

Big News! The following text arrived from Sarah yesterday (while I was at school basking in the warm glow of it being my final term). 'Charlie has just gobbled his first baby rice! Tried to feed himself too, of course.' So, weaning has begun; an otherwise unrelenting appetite sated. Well, yes to the former, but no to the latter. Did we sleep better as a result of Charlie's first proper meal (if you can call it that)? Of course not; he seemed just as hungry last night at eleven, and again at two. But at least the process of satisfying his unending hunger has begun. In fact we'd planned to start last week when I was off, but the demands of decorating, shopping and two weddings wrought havoc with what passes for routine at present (Gina Ford would not approve). So Sarah started yesterday, with Sally and I safely out of the way at school and consequent distractions minimised. It was a messy job, by all accounts. 'Did you get a photo for the blog?' I asked when I got home. The look on Sarah's face implied, shall we say, that it was just about the last thing on her mind at the time. The following were taken later. As you can see, we've all had a go (and it's been great fun!)

  1. How exciting! I'm sure someone will be there with a camera over the weekend!

  2. Isn't it funny how you think OK, a few spoonfuls of rice and that kid will sleep good? If only it was that easy
